THE VOTE HAS BEEN COMPLETE YOU HAVE CHOSE BURZUM hope it will be an interesting reading and that you will enjoy :D i will try to present in later journals the rest of the bands that have been voted as well.

Burzum is a part of scandinavian Black Metal scene formed in 1989 and began in 1991 in Bergen, Norway by Varg Vikernes as a prominent and influential early Norwegian black metal act.
Originally, he used the pseudonym Count Grishnackh. Burzum has played a key role in the musical development of black metal.
During the mid 1990's they were one of the groups that turned norway into a mythical realm with Vikings and Odinist artifacts. Burzum had posed for photos in the norwegian forest wielding axes and clubs. From Korea to Finland corpse painted faces and upside-down crosses became symbols of solidarity even in countries without Christianity. All these of-course brought more bad than good to the black metal scene that will be discussed in another journal.
Before the shadowy facts that surround Varg Vikernes Burzum's early music shows a moderate Tolkien influence; for example, the name Count Grishnackh is taken from an orc character called Grishnákh in Tolkien's works. The choice of the name for the project reflects both this influence and the desire for anonymity: "Burzum" is a word of the Black Speech of Mordor meaning "darkness" (though Vikernes believes that Pagans consider it to mean "light" as opposed to how Christians consider it to mean "darkness"), and is one of those found on the Ring-inscription of the One Ring (the final part of the Ring inscription being "...agh Burzum-ishi krimpatul", "...and in the darkness bind them"). Some of Burzum's early songs featured titles like "En Ring Til Å Herske" ("One Ring To Rule"); however, Vikernes later explained this to be a reference to the Rheingold of Norse mythology rather than to Tolkien's works, which themselves owe debt to Norse mythology. As he continued to release albums, Vikernes' attraction to Norse mythology and Pagan beliefs became more and more apparent. Much of Burzum's later music focuses on Norse legends, especially his most recent two ambient albums: Dauði Baldrs, which deals exclusively with the legend of the death of Baldr, and Hliðskjálf, which recounts the death of Wotan and the approach of Ragnarök.
Musically, Burzum has progressed from primitive, raw black metal to classical-influenced ambient music characterised by minimalist tendencies and dark atmospheres. Vikernes' music is characterised by hypnotic repetition and simple yet profound song structures; this trademark sound has been present on Burzum's black metal and electronic albums alike. Vikernes has described Burzum as a kind of "spell" or recreation of an imaginary world tied in with Pagan history. Each album, he claims, was designed as a kind of "spell" in itself, with each beginning song intending to make the listener more susceptible to "magick", the following songs to inspire a "trance-like state of mind", and the last song to carry the listener into a "world of fantasy" (dreams, for the listener would fall asleep - Burzum was supposed to have been evening music). Vikernes claims the intent to create this fantasy world came from dissatisfaction with the real world. He has stated the "message" of Burzum can be found in the lyrics of the first song of the first album (Feeble Screams From Forests Unknown); the following lyrics act as footnotes.

The Murder:
Later on 1993 a shadow comes to drop over Burzum with the murder of Øystein "Euronymous" Aarseth of Mayhem by Vikernes.
The circumstances surrounding the reason for the murder are not entirely clear, but have been mainly attributed to ideological differences and a power struggle between Vikernes and Aarseth. An alleged financial dispute over the profits from Burzum's records (Burzum and Aske) released through Aarseth's record label (Deathlike Silence Productions) may have also escalated their conflict. Vikernes himself has claimed that Aarseth plotted to kill him and that the murder was committed in self-defense the night of what would be their last visit. Aarseth was found dead outside his apartment in Oslo with twenty-three stab wounds — two to the head, five to the neck, and 16 to the back. Vikernes claims that the majority of those wounds were received when Aarseth fell on pieces of a lamp that was broken in the struggle. While he still claims that it was an act of self-defense, Vikernes describes the fight with Aarseth in detail on his homepage.
After the conflict, Vikernes drove to a nearby lake to dispose of his bloodied clothes before he journeyed home. Upon his arrest, he had prepared alibis which ultimately broke down before he confessed to the murder. During the murder case, the 22-year-old Snorre Ruch (of the band Thorns), who drove Vikernes to and from Øystein's apartment and stood outside during the murder, was put on trial together with Varg Vikernes and sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment, although he did not physically assist Vikernes in the murder.

The Arson's:
Also he has been found responsible for several arsons of churches in Norway. On June 6, 1992, the Fantoft stave church, one of Norway's architectural treasures dating from the 12th century, was burned to the ground via arson. By January 1993, fire attacks had occurred on at least seven other major stave churches, including one on Christmas Eve of 1992. Vikernes was found guilty of several of these cases; the attempted arson of Storetveit Church in Bergen, the arson of Åsane Church in Bergen, Skjold Church in Vindafjord, and Holmenkollen Chapel in Oslo. He was also charged for the arson of Fantoft stave church outside Bergen, although the jurors voted not guilty. The judges claimed this an error of the jurors but refused to overthrow the whole case.
Vikernes was rumored to have been motivated both by Paganism and by his theist form of Satanism. The first case of arson happened on 6 June 1992 and was widely rumored to have been started at 6am. The 6/6/6 time and date combination is based on the Number of the Beast and indicated the link between the church-burnings and Satanism.
Later in an interview with Michael Moynihan Vikernes made a statement explaining the motives for the church-burnings.
"I am not going to say that I burnt any churches. But let me put it this way: There was one person who started it. I was not found guilty of burning the Fantoft stave church, but anyway, that was what triggered the whole thing. That was the 6th of June and everyone linked it to Satanism. (...) What everyone overlooked was that on the 6th June, year 793, in Lindesfarne in Britain was the site of the first known Viking raid in history, with Vikings from Hordaland, which is my county."
He also stated "They [the Christians] desecrated our graves, our burial mounds, so it's revenge." When asked, "You claim that the church burnings are linked to Odinism or Àsatrù?", he replied: "The point is that all these churches [i.e. church burnings] are linked to one person [...] who was not Øystein obviously. All the church burnings, with the exception of Stavanger, because that was another group (who, by the way, have also turned into nationalistic pagans)."
n his manifesto Vargsmål, Vikernes writes: "For each devastated graveyard, one heathen grave is avenged, for each ten churches burnt to ashes, one heathen hof is avenged, for each ten priests or freemasons assassinated, one heathen is avenged."

The escape attempt:
In October 2003, Vikernes failed to return to his low-security prison in Tønsberg, Norway, after having been granted a short leave. Vikernes was found riding in a stolen Volvo car, which contained an unloaded AG3 automatic rifle, a handgun, numerous large knives, a gas mask, camouflage clothing, a laptop, a compass, a Global Positioning System, various maps and a fake passport (it is thought that Vikernes came to be in possession of this equipment by means of a military barracks). For this; thirteen months were added to his sentence, and he was then moved to a maximum-security prison in Trondheim. He has since been moved again, this time to Tromsø Prison.

Vikernes is currently serving a 21 year sentence for the 1993 murder of Øystein "Euronymous" Aarseth of Mayhem as well for the burning of three stave churches in Norway. He is seeking parole in April 2008 after having been denied in 2006.

(i will not go into Vikernes' thoughts political beliefs or religion beliefs because its many people that could be sensitive to the subject or opposed like me so i prefer not to discuss or wright it down.)

Closure:
Despite being in prison, Vikernes denies Burzum has been abandoned, and is "very much alive and well".
In 2000, Vikernes terminated his musical project (which he had continued from his prison cell) due to what he perceived to be negative notoriety. Vikernes believed that his philosophy was constantly misinterpreted by an ignorant fan base that was too closely related to black metal and Satanism. By this time, Vikernes had released two ambient albums, having abandoned the black metal 'scene' years previous. Varg intends to continue Burzum upon his release from prison. The new Burzum, Vikernes claims, will be a continuation of pre-prison Burzum, specifically the album Filosofem. Through a recent article, he has indicated this about the revival of Burzum after his release from the prison.

The current members of Burzum:
Count Grishnackh (Varg Vikernes) - Vocals, Guitars, Bass, Synth, Drums (1991– present)

The former/past members that appeared in Burzum:
Samoth (Tomas Haugen) - Bass (1993)(plays on Aske)
Euronymous - Guitar solo on "War", gong on "Dungeons Of Darkness" (on Burzum's debut album) and on "Det som engang var" (on Hvis Lyset Tar Oss).
AiwarikiaR (Erik Lancelot) - Drums (never recorded, but was in the band for a short time, in an attempt by Varg to transform Burzum into a live band. After a few weeks of rehearsals, Vikernes regretted the idea and abandoned it before ever actually performing live. This occurred after the release of the Aske EP.)
